First and foremost! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope everyone had a fabulous couple days, spending it doing amazing things, surrounded by amazing people. Futhermore – I got to spend New Years in Sydney – one of the coolest places in the world to spend New Years!
I spent my New Years Eve at my new Aussie friend, Ian’s apartment, with his wonderful girl Lisa and about 10-12 of their close friends. It was amazing. After some of my plans for this trip had fallen through, I was a tad nervous as to how I was going to ring in New Years in Sydney. But Ian swept me under his wing and I felt so comfortable and at home, just chatting with everyone, enjoying a few G&T’s, and wonderful food. We watched the spectacular new years eve fireworks over Sydney Harbour, from Ian’s apartment building roof. The view was incredible. I do have a video that I will piece together with some of the fireworks. So keep an eye out for that in the next little while.
But, my goodness, this country is treating me so well. Its been an amazing start to the new year. I am so happy that I actually went through with this crazy plan of me coming here. I’ve made some pretty awesome friends and have done a bunch of relaxing and exploring the city. Lots of people complain that Sydney is too busy for their liking, but I really feel quite comfortable and at home here.
That being said, I am quite looking forward to moving on as well, visiting with Kate in New Zealand for a month, and then coming back and seeing Brent and Jenna in Wollongong and perhaps making my way up the coast and seeing some more friends who are in the Gold Coast and Brisbane. There is so much that I want to do and see. And I’m making contacts for possible travelmates left, right and center.
Anyways, don’t want to use up all of my internet time. It’s bloody expensive! And I’m sure my family would like to skype with me in the next couple days. So I must preserve the bit of internet time I have left.
Love and kisses to you all, wherever you are!
