Photo blog: A day at Taronga Zoo

I spent one of my last days in Sydney checking out the world famous Taronga Zoo.  Let me just say, that if I happen to come back reincarnated as an animal and I was forced into captivity, I would hope to God that I would be able to live at Taronga Zoo – overlooking my most favorite harbour in the world.  The zoo is by far one of my favorites that I’ve been to in the world.  The layout was great and there are heaps of volunteers and zookeepers around to answer questions.  I attended the Sea Lion Show and the Talk to the Penguin Zookeeper chat- both were entertaining and informative.  And quite simply – it’s a fantastic way to spend the day, getting some beautiful snaps of some of the most gorgeous creatures on earth. For holiday goers and locals alike, Taronga Zoo is the place to go to take a walk on the wild side.  Many Australian holiday packages send vacationers off to the likes of the Blue Mountains, the Whitsundays or Uluru – but no stop to Sydney would be complete without checking out the zoo with the view- Taronga Zoo!  It’s a great opportunity to see not only the zoo’s staple animal lineup- lions, tigers and bears – but also get face to face with some native Australian animals.  Kangaroos, emu, dingoes, koalas, Tasmanian devils and more are all on display in various Australasian exhibits.  Some are even available to interact with – who doesn’t want to hold a koala or feed a kangaroo?!  I know I do!Just a few of the basics: Taronga Zoo is a 12-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay and is open every day of the year, 9am until 5pm, including Christmas day!  Adult admission is $44, while children (aged 4-15) get in for $22.  If you find yourself in Sydney, GO!
