2016 Year in Review: The highlights!

I don’t know how many times I have to repeat it… but I know I’ve been neglectful of ye’ olde blog.  I even missed announcing my 6th Anniversary of [over?]sharing with the internet!  Alas –I’m going to do something I haven’t done in quite a while – my year in review post.  2016 turned out to be a really great year.  It was full of travel, and new, exciting beginnings!

Travel

Kicking off this year in review post, on the travel front, I had the pleasure of starting the year in one of my favourite places in the world –Northland, New Zealand – with some of my favourite people!  I attended my best friend’s wedding, and the wedding of a couple I had the pleasure of setting up back when I lived in New Zealand.  I escaped Canada’s winter for 6 weeks and spent Christmas and the peak of New Zealand summer doing things I love in a place I daydream of often. YEAR IN REVIEW NZ Upon returning home, the New Zealand trip was followed by a quick trip to Las Vegas for my 3rd Anniversary with the boyfriend.

YEAR IN REVIEW - LA PEETCH The boyfriend met me the day after the tragic terrorist attacks in Nice, and together we spent nearly two weeks exploring the French Riviera, Monaco, Amsterdam, London and Paris.  We also had the pleasure of catching up with lots of our friends who live in these destinations.  My favourite thing was finally getting to meet Toni from Reclaiming Your Future – after nearly 5 years of a blogger bramance. year in review big ben And as if that wasn’t enough – we took one more trip for the year, in October, to Istanbul & Jordan where we had been invited to a friend’s wedding. A Year of New Beginnings

In terms of new beginnings – 2016 was full of them! After dealing with a horrible bout of depression in the latter part of 2015, which was very trying on my relationship with the boyfriend, we were able to start 2016 fresh. We ended up agreeing to live together, and in June I moved to his house and found an incredible tenant for my condo.

2016 also marked the first full year of my new baby – Melissa Shearer Photography – being in existence. I had the pleasure of photographing so many beautiful women, couples, families, babies, kids and pets and helped them create memories that will last a lifetime. I recently launched my new website, so please do me a solid and check it out.  Also if you’re not doing so already – give me a follow on Instagram and on the new Melissa Shearer Photography Facebook page! msphotography_cover

In terms of the blogging and The Mellyboo Project – I keep meaning to write more about my travels and share it with you – which I am going to make a solid effort to do this year. I plan on blogging all about all the travels I have taken in the past few years that I haven’t written about. So please keep an eye out!  This year in review is a bit different than ones I’ve done in previous years.  Hopefully you don’t mind that this year in review wasn’t a month-to-month overview, but rather quick overview of the year’s best highlights!

Here’s to a wonderful 2017!
